If you’ve spent hours wandering the rocky northern reaches of Wuthering Waves wondering how to reach that glowing, claw-shaped rock formation peeking over the mountain ridge, you’re not alone. I spent three separate play sessions bashing my head against invisible walls and missed paths before I figured out how to get to Diamond Claw in Wuthering Waves, and I’m writing this guide to save you all that frustration. This spot is home to one of the game’s rarest resonance material chests, a hidden side quest, and a panoramic view that’s perfect for in-game screenshots, so it’s well worth the effort to unlock access. I’ve tested every route multiple times across both PC and mobile builds to make sure every step works even if you’re still early in the main story.
Pre-Requisites You Need Before You Can Get to Diamond Claw in Wuthering Waves
You won’t be able to access the area surrounding Diamond Claw until you check a few simple boxes first, and skipping these will leave you stuck at blocked paths no matter how hard you try. First, you need to complete the early Jinzhou main story quest “A Song of Dust and Dawn”, which removes the resonance barrier blocking entry to the northern mountain zone. You don’t need to finish the entire Jinzhou arc to get access, just that first key quest. You don’t need to have finished the entire Jinzhou main story arc to access this area, so don’t put off this trip if you’re still working through later story missions.
Next, make sure you have one Glacio and one Electro resonance user on your team. There are two elemental seals blocking the final path to the claw, and you’ll need both elements to unlock them. You don’t need 5-star characters for this either, I completed the run with a free 4-star Yanming and a level 32 Electro Rover, so no banner pulls are required. Bring at least 3 stamina-restoring snacks with you too, just in case you miss a ledge on the climb and need to recharge mid-ascent.
The Fastest, Shortest Route to Diamond Claw
The in-game map marker for Diamond Claw will try to lead you up a sheer, unclimbable cliff if you follow it directly, so ignore that suggested path entirely. Start by fast traveling to the Frostspine Ridge waypoint, which unlocks as soon as you gain access to northern Jinzhou. From there, follow this step-by-step path to reach the claw in 10 minutes or less:
- From the Frostspine Waypoint, follow the narrow dirt path along the west side of the mountain until you reach a small abandoned campsite with a glowing blue common chest.
- At the campsite, turn left and climb the small rocky ledge directly behind the wooden log bench, where you’ll find a hidden wind current that lifts you 30 feet up the mountain for free, no stamina required.
- Ride the wind current to the upper ledge, then follow the ice-covered path east for 200 feet until you reach the two elemental seal doors blocking the final access path.
The wind current is hidden behind a cluster of pine trees, so if you don’t see it right away, move the camera around to spot the faint blue glow peeking through the branches. I walked right past it three times on my first run, so I know how easy it is to miss. Once you activate the Glacio and Electro seals, the doors will slide open, and you’ll see Diamond Claw glinting straight ahead of you. The final walk to the base of the formation is flat and obstacle-free, so no more climbing is needed from there.
Hidden Shortcuts and Secret Loot to Grab Along the Way
The trip to Diamond Claw is already worth it for the main reward chest, but there are a handful of hidden bonuses you can grab along the route that make the run even more profitable. About 100 feet before you reach the abandoned campsite on the initial dirt path, you’ll see a small cave mouth half-hidden by ice on the right side of the trail. Pop inside, defeat the two low-level frost slimes guarding it, and you’ll find a rare 4-star resonance enhancement material that sells for 5,000 in-game currency or can be used to level up your best characters.
When you ride the wind current up to the upper mountain ledge, glance left before you head east toward the seal doors. There’s a small, unmarked platform there with a hidden photo challenge. Complete the challenge by taking a shot of the valley below, and you’ll earn 20 free Astrite and a limited-edition mountain view namecard. Once you reach the claw itself, don’t just grab the main chest and leave. Most players miss this side quest entirely because they only climb to the top of the claw and leave immediately, but if you circle the base of the formation, you’ll find a crumpled note that starts the “Last Claw Keeper” side quest, which rewards a free 4-star catalyst blueprint once completed.
Common Mistakes to Avoid When Trying to Reach Diamond Claw
I’ve helped dozens of friends and community members unlock this area, and I see the same mistakes over and over again that waste time and cause unnecessary frustration. First, don’t try to climb the sheer cliff directly below the Diamond Claw map marker. I’ve seen players burn through 10+ stamina potions trying to scale this cliff, and it’s completely unnecessary when the wind current path is so much faster and easier. You’ll almost always fall halfway up and have to start over anyway, so save yourself the hassle.
Second, double check your team composition before you leave the Frostspine Ridge waypoint. There’s no way to unlock the elemental seals without a Glacio and Electro user, and if you leave one behind, you’ll have to fast travel back to a waypoint to swap your team and restart the entire route. You can use free 4-star characters for both elements, so you don't need to spend any money or pull on limited banners to unlock the seals, so don’t let anyone tell you this content is locked behind paywalls. Third, if you’re playing in co-op, don’t have a friend summon you to Diamond Claw before you complete the “A Song of Dust and Dawn” quest. You’ll be able to see the area, but all chests and the side quest will be locked for you until you finish the required story step.
At the end of the day, figuring out how to get to Diamond Claw in Wuthering Waves is a lot simpler than most online guides make it sound, as long as you follow the right path and come prepared with the right team and items. It’s one of my favorite hidden spots in the entire game, and the rewards you get for visiting are more than worth the 10 minutes it takes to complete the route. If you run into any snags along the way, drop a comment below and I’ll help you work through it, I’ve helped dozens of players unlock this spot over the last few months. Happy exploring!
